Fight Spam with a CAPTCHA

If you are receiving more than your share of spam emails in response to your FormMail, you are not alone! True, spam blockers can be helpful, but they can be risky as well, since you could lose potential paying customers during the spam-blocking process.

However, there is an alternative: installing a CAPTCHA (see the image at right) will prevent these annoying spam responses from getting through to you. Users must prove that they are living, breathing individuals by filling out the characters displayed.

Yes, forcing users to take this extra step will inevitably discourage some users from contacting you (they will bail out before taking the time to fill in the characters and hit submit). Still some web site owners would rather take this risk than continue to receive these irritating spam responses in their e-mail inbox.
