I’ve known Chris about a year and a half. We’ve worked together side-by-side more than a dozen times and keep an ongoing online dialogue. What comes next is rather striking: in each case, Chris has distinguished himself as the most professional and personable man on the market. This would mean much if it applied just to the 10 web designers I researched and interviewed; but I mean to extend the praise further: for personal and professional CHARACTER – the ability to get on with people and deliver a fine product – Chris tops the list of all professionals I’ve worked with over the past 3 years in building up my small business. This list includes 6 graphic designers, 4 sound engineers, 4 lawyers, 3 admin types, 3 general consultants, and 1 accountant, among many others who don’t qualify for this list of credits.

Some concrete, measurable examples:

Once committed to hiring a web designer, I emailed 10 people outlining my project and requesting a quote. Chris was the first to respond over email and phone (a matter of hours) and the only one who gave me an estimate as asked. Since then, Chris has proven this kind of straightforwardness and punctuality is the rule. At every stage, Chris gives reasonable projections for submitting work and always delivers a little bit early. 5 stars!
I came to Chris with a highly detailed, artistically ambitious website – on paper. In this way Chris was able to see what I was after. Chris identified a few technical issues and approached them like this:
- If my creative vision clashed with certain technical status-quos, Chris would explain the pros and cons of either choice, evenly offer his advice, then step back, in short, empowering me to make a more informed decision. This applies for aesthetic and practical issues: what looks good, what works better, what sells best, etc.
- If my creative vision challenged Chris’s own technical skills, he troubleshot and problemsolved in ways that made me feel he cared as much about the project as I did. He’s batting 1.000 so far
The website itself. Although my drawings were the backbone of the website, pencil and paper don’t do well for illustrating digital textures or conveying the electronic look and feel that every website depends on for its success. Here’s where Chirs’s artistic skills really shined. After absorbing my project, Chris designed a masthead, and created a mix of digital colors, textures and effects that brought my visions to life much like the vivid and color-bursting land of Oz is brought to life out of the blacks whites and grays of a Kansas tornado. A Wizard!
